The Sufferance Machine

Hey everyone, here are the latest updates on our new Horror film Sufferance. As Matt continues to work his magic to polish off the script, we’ve had a few other cool things happen in the last few weeks. In Investment news, we have another 10k committed to the film.  As most folks know, financing an independent film with private capital is a very difficult and potentially long process, especially during these shaky economical times.  So the fact that we’ve already raised 20k in angel investments, has us feeling pretty good about the path ahead of...

Sufferance Update: Oh So Close

Finally finished the latest draft of the script. Will be sending it back to Matt this week for final touches and polish…but it is really close!!! Speaking of Matt, I’d like to take a quick minute to publicly thank my amazing writer and dear friend, for his continued help in merging our two visions together. His patience and support mean a lot to me. So lucky to have him as a creative collaborator. This has been such a long journey (Especially for Matt and Bill) but as we inch closer to having a final draft of the script, I’m confident that it was well...

Building a Community

Recently, in an effort to create an online community, Eventide Productions launched a page on Facebook. As we begin the journey to create our first feature film, we’ll be using that page to not only keep current fans up to date, but to also attract new ones and grow a community.  In the world of Independent film, distributors are using sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace to raise awareness about a film.  Therefore it’s becoming increasingly more important to have a Social profile so we figured we’d get started early.  That way, (Hopefully) by the...

The Book OF DARKNESS, Part 1

One of the coolest things to come out of producing Of Darkness was the creation of the film’s evil centerpiece, the Book of Darkness.  Most fans that have seen the short have made references to the holy grail of evil books: the Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire created by writer H. P. Lovecraft. A modern day use of that book of evil can be seen in Sam Rami’s classic horror “Evil Dead” series.  Of course, this was an easy comparison to make, because this book has become an archetype of ‘evil book lore’. However, when creating the story Of Darkness, the...

A Look Inside Matt Casale’s workspace

Every great creative thinker needs an inspiring place to sit down and create.  SUFFERANCE Screenwriter Matt Casale’s writing room in his home in North Carolina is just that type of place.  Filled w/ sculptures, movie memorabilia, research, posters, books and toys, it’s the perfect place to hide from the world and dive into writing. In addition to being a screenwriter, Matt also happens to be an amazing Sculptor. I had a chance to spent a few days down South working on the latest version of the script and grabbed a few stills of his impressive collection of...

Meet Steve Cleff, Storyboard Artist

Eventide Productions has hired illustrator and artist Steve Cleff to create storyboards for the companies first feature-length narrative film, SUFFERANCE.  Steve is no stranger to the world of Eventide, having first worked with the team when he created the illustrations featured inside the book  OF DARKNESS. (Check out those illustrations) Storyboards are an essential part of any Eventide project and we’re very excited to begin this collaboration with our friend and talented illustrator.  In addition to mapping out the visuals of the film, we’ll also be...

The Evolution of SUFFERANCE

As we find ourselves finalizing the script for Sufferance, it’s actually amazing to think about it’s evolution. Based on an idea by Matt Casale’s cousin Bill Bedner (and with his creative support), Matt began writing the original version while we were in post-production on Of Darkness. Nominated for Best Screenplay @ The Terror Film Festival for Of Darkness, Matt received a three month course in the Writers Boot Camp. It was there he completed the 1st version of Sufferance. Forming an LLC w/ Bill Bedner & a Texas production company to produce it,...
